If you are in Knoxville during the summer, I highly recommend a visit to the sunflower fields at Forks of the River in South Knoxville. The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency manages this area and it is beautiful. July is the best month for the blooms. They do not plant the sunflowers every year to allow for soil regeneration, but it is easy to do a quick internet search to see what the status of the fields are. We did our wedding photos in these same fields in 2016 and they turned out great!
The Forks of the River WMA provides miles of walking trails along the river and the fields. There is a large parking area at 3140 McClure Lane, Knoxville, TN. It is a great place whether you want an easy stroll or lengthy walk. Pack up a picnic lunch and enjoy the day among all the yellow sunflowers. Please be respectful of the fields, don’t leave any trash behind and don’t pick the flowers!
Until next time,
Hannah
